General Information 2017

Accommodation
The lodge has 14 bedrooms, a combination of single, twin and double rooms. 11 rooms are en-suite and there are two further bathrooms, one with shower.
There is an excellent Drying Room.
A recent addition is a second Sitting Room (The Curtis Room) with TV and Internet.

Cellar
A comprehensive cellar of wines, spirits and beers is available in the Lodge. These should be ordered from the General Manager (Christina Macdonald) on arrival or from the Lodge Staff as required. Guests usually choose to share the cost of wines at dinner. By tradition ghillies are entitled to a bottle of beer a day, which will be included in the bill.

Changeover Night
Changeover night on a Wednesday is a Grimersta tradition. With both outgoing and incoming parties in the lodge it can be fairly full. Incoming guests have priority and therefore it may occasionally be necessary to move rooms on this night. If there are likely to be more than eight guests in your party please discuss arrangements with Christina.

Dining
Breakfast: 8.30am.  Afternoon Tea: 5.45pm.  Dinner: 7.45pm. (Sundays, Breakfast: 9.30am, Lunch: 1.00pm).
Please note that there is a set menu for dinner. If you have any specific allergies please inform the Christina prior to arrival.
A gong will be sounded prior to meals, it is requested that guests be punctual. A jacket and tie should be worn for dinner.
After dinner the Dining Room should be vacated reasonably promptly to allow staff to complete their duties, coffee is served in the Sitting Room.
Early morning tea, drinks and picnic lunches are ordered from the General Manager on arrival.

Dogs
Dogs are welcome on the Estate subject to prior arrangement with the Estate Manager. Please note that dogs are not allowed in the Lodge and must be prepared to sleep in cars.

Fishing Rules
The Grimersta Fishing and General Rules (2017) is available from the Estate Manager.

Gyrodactylus salaris
Please ensure that you complete and sign the Gyrodactylus salaris declaration and return it to the Estate Office. It is estate policy that no one may fish until a declaration has been received.

Internet and Mobile 
Wireless internet access is available in the Lodge. There is a laptop situated in the Curtis Room. There is reasonable mobile ‘phone network coverage across the island.

Laundry
Laundry facilities are limited and we cannot undertake personal laundry. Please ensure you have sufficient clothing for the duration of your stay.

Salmon
The Estate will arrange for retained fish to be frozen, packed and labelled prior to departure.

Safety
Life jackets are provided and Rods must wear life jackets when in a boat. We also strongly advise the use of suitable eye protection.

Smoking
Please note that smoking is not permitted in the lodge, estate buildings or vehicles.

Tackle 
The Estate Office maintains a supply of tackle. This includes complete rod outfits, flies, nylon and insect repellent etc. These items can be ordered from your ghillie or in advance through the Estate Manager.

Towels
If you require fresh towels please leave in the bath or shower and they will be replaced.

Transport
Car Hire is available locally. Details are available through the Estate office. If requested guests can be collected from the airport or ferry. Please ensure that the Arrival Arrangements Proforma is completed and returned to the Estate Office.

Travel Insurance
We strongly recommend that guests insure against holiday cancellation and have suitable travel insurance.

 

Caution! Please drive with great care on the Lodge Road, Children and Deerhounds at large!
